The cold brew method uses time, instead of temperature, to gently extract the flavours, nutrients and antioxidants from the tea leaves. Our teas are cold brewed for 12 hours.
Cold brew teas tend to taste sweeter and less bitter as cold water draws out fewer tannins* from the tea. The cold water also extracts less caffeine from tea leaves than hot water.
*Tannins are a type of antioxidant compound that give tea its bitter taste.
Is Cold Brew Tea the same as Iced Tea?
Cold brew tea is often confused with iced tea as they are both drank cold but that’s where the similarity ends.
Iced tea is generally hot-brewed tea that has been cooled down. When brewing, if the time or temperature of the hot water is incorrect, you risk ending up with bland, watered down tea or a bitter brew which require more sugar or sweeteners to balance the taste.
On the other hand, cold brew tea unlocks a unique flavour from the tea leaves that is smoother and more pronounced.
